FlowMotionGrand

A welcome that moves. Turning sculptures, slow shadows and a calm circle of light at the entrance.

01 Story

Movement you can stand in.

FlowMotion began as a lamp for the living room. For Otter Rock it grows to 26 feet, turns upside down and lights the ground instead of the ceiling.

Mesmerizing movements and shadows

Every element turns on its own gear. Their shadows circle slowly across the ground and never repeat the same picture.

Ambient space

A soft island of light at the arrival. A place to pause, meet and look up before walking on to the domes and cabins.

Connection between physics and art

Gears, light and geometry made visible. The mechanism is the artwork: you can see how it moves and why it casts what it casts.

02 Six variations

One lamp, six crowns.

Each variation uses the real elements of one FlowMotion lamp. The base becomes the crown at 24 ft; a single LED under the hub shines down through the turning elements. Walk around it in 3D.

03 On site

At the heart of the arrival.

The sculpture stands in the center of the traffic island at the entrance drive, where plan C-301 notes the kinetic sculpture. It is drawn to scale in the original site plan.

The island is about 50 × 45 ft. The plinth needs a 8'-6" square footing below grade; everything above the plinth is out of reach. The crown stays inside the island outline in every variation.

04 Light & shadow

Calm for the neighbors.

Two questions for the approval: where does the light go at night, and how long does the sculpture shade anything by day? Both are calculated from the real model and the real site.

Night

Night view from above: the shadow patterns stay inside a circle around the mast

34 ftlight radius

One LED projector at 23'-7" shines downward only. With a 55° cut-off, light and patterns stay within 34 ft (10.3 m) of the mast, on the island and the drive aisle. No light goes above the horizontal; there is no glare toward cabins, domes or the road. Dimmable and on a timer.

Computed minute by minute, sun altitude ≥ 10°, true solar time. Point = edge of each building facing the sculpture. Elements count as solid cylinders, so real shadows are lighter and shorter.

05 Drawings

For the planning board.

Three A3 sheets per variation: elevation with footing, site plan with light zone, sun shadow study. Drawn from the model of the selected variation.
